St. Thomas Charities Trust

St. Thomas Charities is a registered Trust established under the auspices of St. Thomas Orthodox Maha Edavaka, Bangalore East. Guided by a mission of compassion and service, the Trust is dedicated to providing a nurturing and secure environment for children in need. Its primary activity involves operating a residential home that offers safety, education, and a sense of family to its residents, helping them grow with dignity and hope.

The Trust is registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, and all donations made to it are eligible for exemption under Section 80G(5) of the Income Tax Act. Governance of the Trust is overseen by a dedicated body of office bearers and trustees, who serve voluntarily. Leadership is provided by the Diocesan Metropolitan as Chairman and the Church Vicar as Vice Chairman, supported by an Honorary Treasurer, Honorary Secretary, and a team of trustees drawn from the congregation.

The residential home provides a stable and supportive living environment for school-going children, who attend local Kannada and English medium schools. To enhance their learning, residents are provided with modern educational tools, including laptops and internet connectivity. Full-time caretakers are engaged to ensure the daily well-being, safety, and development of the children. The Trust also facilitates the children’s participation in cultural events and community gatherings, fostering a sense of belonging and joy.

In addition to individual and family donations received through sponsorships for education, food, clothing, and special occasions, the Trust actively seeks support from corporate entities under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. These partnerships have helped sustain and expand the Trust’s work. The Trust also benefits from the generous support of youth groups, women’s fellowships, and other community organizations that contribute donations and organize recreational activities for the children. The Trust welcomes contributions from within India and in INR currency and the Bank details are given below:

A significant milestone in the Trust’s journey has been the receipt of a donated property—a plot of land with a multi-storey building—which now serves as the permanent home for the children. This gift of love and generosity has provided the Trust with a dedicated space featuring multiple bedrooms and essential facilities. The Trust remains deeply grateful to all well-wishers, volunteers, and supporters—including former landlords, parish members, and institutions—whose partnership has made its mission possible. Through these collective efforts, St. Thomas Charities continues to be a beacon of hope and care in the community.
